About the Collection

The HERO.INE collection is one of the first collections by designer Kateřina Handlová in her role as the artistic director of Rückl. This collection confidently showcases how to work with traditional cut crystal in a modern way, while still referencing historical heritage. The collection intertwines her interest in developing a unique visual language within the Rückl brand, continuing the legacy of previous collections, and utilizing the centuries-old technique of cut glass. It focuses on haptics and contrasts between fine details and brutal oversized cuts, matte and polished surfaces, and the fragility and strength of glass.

Vase Design

The design of the vases in the HERO.INE collection plays with contrasts derived from the interplay of light and dark, masculinity and femininity, and the massiveness and delicacy of hand-cut glass. A dominant feature of the collection’s hand-blown vases is the striking deep cut, which takes master glass cutters several hours to complete.

Collection Range

The HERO.INE collection consists of seven vases with unique cuts in five different sizes and various colors. The vases are shaped to meet the diverse needs of floral arrangements. Each of the seven vases is named after different international and Czech heroines, strong women who inspire Kateřina in her work and life, such as EMA Destinová, LATA Brandisová, VIVIENNE Westwood, and COCO Chanel.

Supporting the Non-Profit Organization Loono

On the occasion of introducing the new HERO.INE collection by Kateřina Handlová, Rückl decided to support the Czech non-profit organization Loono. Founded by Kateřina Šédová, who became the face of the HERO.INE collection, Loono was chosen for her compelling story, unyielding courage, and passion for her work. She perfectly embodies the definition of contemporary heroines. For every COCO Heroine amber vase sold, Rückl will donate 10% of the pre-tax sale price to support Loono. Loono's team of young doctors, medical students, and other professionals raise awareness about the prevention of oncological, cardiovascular, and mental illnesses.

How to Care for Crystal

Crystal was first discovered in the late 17th century, and its production in the Czech lands has a rich tradition. It is valued for its beauty and artistic quality. Crystal can be richly decorated with intricate cuts or elegantly clear and pure in its natural sparkling beauty. Here are some tips on how to care for crystal:

1. First Use Before using, first remove any traces of adhesive left by labels. Then rinse the crystal products by hand with warm water, using only a small amount of mild detergent. Allow to dry afterward.

2. Washing Crystal Rückl hand-blown crystal glass is recommended to be washed by hand in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth to prevent mechanical damage that can occur during dishwasher washing. If you choose to use a dishwasher, provide ample space for the glass.

   When washing crystal from stains and dried residues, you can add vinegar to the soapy water. Finally, dry the crystal gently with a clean cloth to prevent water spots.

3. Temperature Sensitivity Czech crystal is an enchanting material. If you own a piece with deep cuts, be cautious of sudden temperature changes, such as hot or too cold drinks. These can increase internal tension in the glass, potentially causing it to crack. Generally, crystal glass is not recommended for hot beverages. Do not place crystal in conventional or microwave ovens or freezers.

4. Handle Crystal with Care The characteristic design of Rückl glasses includes a robust base and a thin upper rim. Remember that the upper rim is the most fragile and can be damaged by careless handling.

   Sharp objects can also scratch the crystal surface. Whenever washing or storing glass, leave enough space between individual pieces.

Handle glasses, pitchers, and vases with care. If you treat your Rückl crystal products with care, they will maintain their unique quality for generations.
