How to Care for Crystal

Crystal was first discovered in the late 17th century, and its production in the Czech lands has a rich tradition. It is valued for its beauty and artistic value. Crystal can be richly decorated with intricate cuts or elegantly transparent and pure in its natural radiant beauty. Here are some tips on how to care for crystal.

  1. First Use

Before use, remove any traces of glue left by labels. Then rinse the crystal products by hand with warm water, using only a small amount of mild detergent. Let them dry afterward.

  1. Washing Crystal

We recommend washing Rückl hand-blown crystal glass by hand in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth to prevent mechanical damage to the glass when washing in a dishwasher. If you decide to put the glass in the dishwasher, give it plenty of space.

When washing crystal from stains and dried residues, you can also add vinegar to the soapy water. Finally, dry the crystal by gently wiping it with a clean piece of cloth to prevent water spots.

  1. Crystal is Sensitive to Temperature

Czech crystal is an enchanting material. If you own a piece with deep cuts, be careful of sudden temperature changes, such as those caused by hot or very cold drinks. These can increase internal stress in the glass and cause it to crack. Generally, we do not recommend using crystal glass for hot beverages. Do not put crystal in a conventional or microwave oven or in the freezer.

  1. Handle Crystal with Care

The characteristic design of Rückl glasses includes a robust base and a thin upper rim. Remember that the upper rim is the most fragile and can be damaged by careless handling.

Other sharp objects can also scratch the crystal surface. Whenever you wash or store the glass, leave enough space between individual pieces.

Handle glasses, jugs, and vases carefully. If you take care of your Rückl crystal products with care, they will maintain their unique quality for generations.
