How to Care for Crystal

Crystal was first discovered at the end of the 17th century, and its production in the Czech lands has a rich tradition. It is prized for its beauty and artistic value. Crystal can be richly decorated with intricate cuts or elegantly clear and pure in its natural radiant beauty. Here are some tips on how to care for your crystal.

  1. First Use

Before using, remove any traces of adhesive left by labels. Then, hand rinse the crystal products with warm water, using only a small amount of mild detergent. Allow them to air dry.

  2. Washing Crystal

We recommend washing Rückl hand-blown crystal glass by hand in lukewarm water with a soft sponge or cloth to prevent mechanical damage from dishwashing. If you prefer to use a dishwasher, ensure there is plenty of space around each piece.

When washing crystal to remove stains and dried-on residue, you can add vinegar to the soapy water. Finally, dry the crystal by gently wiping it with a clean cloth to prevent water spots.

  3. Crystal is Sensitive to Temperature

Czech crystal is a charming material. If you own a piece with deep cuts, be cautious of sudden temperature changes, as hot or very cold beverages can increase internal stress in the glass and cause it to crack. Generally, crystal glass is not recommended for hot beverages. Do not place crystal in conventional or microwave ovens or in the freezer.

  4. Handle Crystal with Care

The distinctive design of Rückl glasses includes a robust base and a thin upper edge. Remember that the thin edge is the most fragile and can be damaged with careless handling.

Other sharp objects can also scratch the crystal surface. Whenever washing or storing glassware, leave space between each piece.

Handle glasses, pitchers, and vases with care. If you treat your Rückl crystal products with care, they will retain their unique quality for generations.
